Tuesday, August 16, 2016

By the end of this post you will be able to prevent an app from auto starting without root privilege. before proceeding it is necessary to throw light on few aspects of this article.

why i should prevent an app from autostart

you should prevent an app from auto starting because.
  • your battery life will be improved.
  • your device will function even more smoothly when background apps are stopped.
  • you wont any more need to manually close autostart app.
  • if the app is a suspicious one it may send your data without your will e.g key-logs contact info etc.
  • it will sound good if you tell your friend that you stopped an app from auto-start without root privilege. hurrah!

why to avoid rooting your phone

for auto-start prevention rooting your android device is the best solution but there are some risks associated with rooting.
  • By rooting your smart phone you will void your phones warranty.
  • There is 50% chance that your smart phone will break(in case of unsuccessful rooting).
  •  your smart phone will get exposed to online security threats.
therefore i suggest that you sho
uld not root your smart phone for such minor advantages, for which you have to take a very high risk.
now here we go for the actual procedure.
for better understanding make sure to reproduce each step as shown in the screen shots.
requirements:
for this method you will need a software called luckypatcher v6.1.5
make sure that the software version is "6.1.5" or the app will not work for non root smart phones.
you can search for luckypatcher v6.1.5 on internet or you can download it from here.

detailed steps of autostart prevention

  • open lucky patcher app on your smart phone.
  • now the app will show you a list of various apps installed on your android device as shown below.
  • look for the app that you want to prevent auto-start for.i am using "twilight" app.
  • tap on it, a drop down menu will appear.
  • tap on "open menu of patches" in the drop down menu.
  • now tap on "create modified apk"
  • there are 4 things you can do with the app.however on rooted phones it supports 7 options.
  • there are many features of lucky patcher to avail however in this post i will stick to our purpose.
  • tap on "apk with changed permissions and activities".out of the 4 options.
  • on this screen there are permissions which this app was granted by default on install, shown in green colour text.
  • tap on "recieve_boot_completed".so that the text turns red.
  • this indicates that the app is no longer having access to that particular permission.
  • tap on "rebuild app" and wait for the process to complete.
  • on next screen tap "go to file" and tap on the generated apk.
  • next tap on "uninstall and install".
  • now proceed to install the modified apk as shown in screen shots.

now your app will not be able to autostart on boot, that's because you've drawn from the app, that particular permission that allow the app to recognize your android device boot status.
keep in mind that the app your modified apk may not function at all so keep in your checklist always to backup your app before proceeding to patch.
